American student among 3 killed in West Bank assault
Oren Liebermann
Summary: A 18 year old American Yeshiva student was one of 3 people killed in an “act of terror” that occurred in the West Bank in Israel. There were more Americans that were injured during this. The driver opened fire in a line of traffic and then when he was stopped he started to ram his car into pedestrians. There was also a stabbing attack that occurred earlier in the day in Tel Aviv that left two Israelites dead. Was said to be one of the more violent days and there hasn’t been this many innocent people dead since early October. Both of the suspected attackers have been arrested.
Who: 18 year old American Yeshiva student from Boston (Ezra Schwartz)
What: A shooting and stabbing that left a people killed and more injured.
When: Today, November, 19
Where: Busy intersection in Gush Etzion, West bank, Israel
Why: There was not a clear cause identified, but we are aware that it was an “act of terror”, comparable to events dealing with terrorist violence that have recurred multiple times recently
Bias: We found that this was kind of selective reporting because the article and video really focuses on the fact that there was an American killed and more injured and it seemed like they kind of skipped over the fact that there were also some Palestinians and Israelites killed as well. Since this article was published by an American source it is not surprising that they focus more on the American killed. It also could be viewed as to cast a negative light on the Palestinians and Israelites because the attacks were carried out by them.
