Summary:
On October 31, 2015 in an already troubled part of the world, an 18-year-old Russian Airbus A321-200 crashed, killing all 224 people aboard. The plane came to a halt in the Sinai Peninsula, in Egypt. Officials suspect a bomb went off inside the plane, planted by an extremist islam group that is popular in the middle-east although plane failure is still a possible conclusion.
Bias:
This article is not biased because it does not lean towards any one conclusion of the planes crash but discusses all of them openly. The authors give factual and relevant quotes for each supporter of every argument and state supporting facts for all. The authors take a neutral and well informed standpoint and say that there does not appear to be enough evidence to form a defendable opinion on the subject of the planes crash and that they are waiting to see what evidence lies inside the planes black boxes.
Democratic Values:
Truth:
After the crash, an extremist Islamic group claimed responsibility in a statement on Twitter, saying the attack was retaliation for Russia’s actions in Syria. Some even suspect plane failure as the cause of the incident, as the pilot often complained about the planes conditions, according to an interview with his wife. The truth of what happened before the crash still leaves much to be desired.
Justice:
President Vladimir Putin ordered a state commission to investigate the crash. Investigators are searching through the Sinai desert for pieces of the plane, investigators are especially looking for the on-board recorders (or black boxes). The black boxes were recovered from the scene on Saturday, and investigators in Cairo were set to begin analyzing their contents on Monday. These answers will provide justice for those 224 people who passed away in the crash.
