SUMMARY
In the recent Terror in Paris attack that killed so far at least 129 people, along with injuring hundreds of others. There have been a number of investigations narrowing down suspects involved with the deadly crime. With the help of two of the attackers brother Mohamed Abdeslam, investigators and officials are on a manhunt for one of the surviving attackers Salah Abdeslam. Mohamed encourages his brother to the best thing which is to surrender and take responsibility for his actions. Mohamed and Salah also had a brother Ibrahim Abdeslam who was a gunman in the Paris attacks and he was killed either by himself or by police. This Manhunt has been going on since the suspects were revealed shortly after the Paris attacks on November 13, 2015. Officials are also on a manhunt for Abdelhamid Abaaoud whom they have also been tracking down because he has been involved with planning a number of terrorist attacks in Western Europe before the Paris attacks. Neither of the ISIS terrorists have yet been found. Abdelhamid Abaaoud is considered one of the greatest masterminds behind the ISIS attacks. Other actions are being taken by France during this aftermath of the Terror in Paris. The French President Francois Hollande has claimed that France is now at war with ISIS. The French President wants new anti-terrorism laws, and so far French warplanes have launched multiple airstrikes on ISIS' de facto capital of Raqqa in northern Syria. On this manhunt, The finding of Salah Abdeslam and Abdelhamid Abaaoud is important because ISIS has previously planned and is continuing to plan more terrorist attacks in Western Europe which could continue to lead into other attacks performed around the world. Why the U.S is concerned is because none of the attackers were on the U.S watch list. This is an issue because it shows how ineffectively the U.S and other allies have been able to detect terrorists before tragic attacks occur.
Democratic Values
Democratic Values that are at stake in this issue are mainly common good and possibly justice. Justice depending on what happens to the living attackers when they are found, based on whether their treatment is reasonable for the horrific crime they have committed. Mainly common good is the biggest democratic value at stake in this issue. Many people around the world, especially people in France are in great fear of their safety, security, and welfare. Mainly because no one knew the attack was coming, and the attackers have not yet been found, meaning danger could come in their future.
Bias in the Articles
The bias is obviously from a westerner's point of view looking at the extremist muslims in ISIS as horrible terrorists.
